The Promised Land is...a bouncy castle! Not just for the children. The service derives from the last speech of Martin Luther King the night before before his assassination: "I may not get there with you - but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land."

The manager of Ealing YMCA was coming to Grace at the time, and he had access to a bouncy castle. So we had to use it in a service, just for the appearance and the behaviour.

What can we do to help create the promised land for one another? Discuss in groups what words or symbols sum up your intentions; then draw them on the cakes with the tubes of 'writing icing' provided. Then eat the cakes.
