June 2024: Prospect Wood
Grace was in Prospect Wood in Sussex on Saturday June 8th. It ran for the whole day rather than the usual evening.
People in various cars met 10:30am at Kirdford village stores and drove together to the wood. The entrance gates which have to be kept shut are some way from the area that we use, so we have to go in in convoy.
The plan for the day was as follows:
Coffee + cake on arrival.
Opening prayer
Space to chill out, enjoy the woods.
Anyone who wants to can do some wood related stuff - splitting wood, whittling, clearing but no pressure to.
Lunch
More space
Closing prayers
We left around 3:30pm
List of birds detected by song in the wood, using the Merlin app:
- Eurasian Wren
- Coal Tit
- Song Thrush

- Eurasian Robin
- Eurasian Blackcap

The wren, chaffinch, blackcap, chiffchaff and goldcrest were singing most of the time, the others were occasional.
