January 2025: Look back - move forward

The service was moved into the Polygon due to the cold. It was 14C in the Polygon against 9C and dropping in the church, even with the heating on.
People wrote their fears, prayers and hopes:
Fears:
- Unstable political leaders (USA)
- Climate change
- America becoming a fascist state
- That we are forgetting how to live together
- That hate and conflict are becoming the normal way
- Billionaires turned politicians
- That the church fails to be beautiful
- That our planet is increasingly lost
- Exhaustion
- That we get used to the mess that we are in and end up hopeless
- USA leadership
- Division, which fuels mistrust and hate grows
- The mental health of young people in this difficult time
- That I give up being me.
Prayers:
- For the abused, for the unloved, for those without hope
- That we can change the way it is to the way it should be
- That God you will bring justice for those who are oppressed and victims
- For after April
- For people to rediscover the joy of being in community
- That the rich and powerful will not always get their way
- That your love will shine through us in the darkness of this troubled world
- Pray that we will hold onto the good
- God that I hold you close always – Amen
- For peace
Hopes:
- Young women are now able to visit cafes in Saudia Arabia without their father or brother. They are able to chat to their friends. I hope for more of this freedom for them.
- Hope that we will recognise beauty and goodness despite what press and media tells us
- That God will liberate Palestine and Ukraine
- For freedom from oppression for your persecuted sons and daughters throughout the world
- That I will keep my saltiness
- That I will keep my environment, that will keep my saltiness
- That my saltiness will keep the environment that keeps other people’s saltiness
- That we will see ourselves in other and that our “leaders” are able to do the same
- The good news of Jesus’ message and love grows through our communities and across the world - Amen
